Both versions have a very clear definition of Ann's hate towards Richard and Richard's deception. They differ in the scene where Ann expresses her anger and disgust towards Richard and Richard tries to woo her. In the production, the encounter is scene as intimate and heated while in the original, Ann is disempowered while Richard is empowered.
