On page 114, Atus prepares for the first day of the trial. He interviews several witnesses and strives to find Tom's alibi and credible testimony. He is portrayed as not disappointed by the prejudice and racism of the villagers and striving to professionally deal with Tom's case.

Page 115 depicts the scene in which Attus submits and represents evidence to prove Tom's innocence at trial. He tries to prove that the real culprit is Maywell Eller, based on the injuries and traces on Tom's shoulder. But despite Atus' evidence and claims, Harris, a psychological and cunning prosecutor, demeans Attus and tries to ignore it.

On page 116, Tom is on Harris' interrogation. Tom pleads not guilty and explains what he did to defend himself for being attacked by Maywell Eller. But Harris mocks and insults Tom and tries to put him at a disadvantage. Attus does his best to protect Tom, and continues his confrontation with the prosecutor.

Finally, on page 117, the trial continues. Tom's case becomes more and more complicated and the conflict gets worse. Atus raises Tom's case as a matter of racism and justice, trying to uncover the real reason why Maywell Eller attacked Tom. But the villagers still have prejudices and preconceived notions about Tom, who is still black, and are pictured as not sympathising with Atus's defense.

In summary, pages 113 to 117 deal with the process by which Attus handles Tom Robinson's case and struggles to prove his innocence. Atus fights hard to protect Tom, demonstrating professionalism against racism and prejudice without being disappointed. But the conflict in the trial and the preconceived notions of the villagers are still making Atus' efforts difficult.
