The great fire of London was a very big fire in London in 1666.

The fire started on September 2nd in the King’s bakery in Pudding Lane near London Bridge.

Fires were very common those days.
But the fire became quickly gigantic and nobody could stop it.

By the 4th September half of London was in flames. The King also joined the fire fighters and helped. At that time they didn't have firetrucks, so they had to get water from a river in buckets. Which made it a lot harder to stop the fire.

Only a small part of London were left untouched. Basically all the civic buildings had been destroyed as well as 13,000 private houses, but amazingly only six people had died.

The fire ended on September 5th 1666.

The union jack is the official flag of Great Britain, and it was originally adopted in 1606 but the St Andrew’s cross did first mix up with the rest of the flags in 1801. The union jack is a mix of three different flags from the United Kingdom the Scottish flag (St. Andrew’s cross) the English flag (St. George’s cross) and the Irish flag (St. Patrick’s cross) all of these three flags combined makes the union jack. The union jack was first seen when the Scottish, English and Irish in 1606 made a war union, the war union used the union jack for only sea wars in the first place because some of the countries wanted to use their own flags
