He furthers by explaining his nonviolent campaign and the process they took before engaging in direct action. King explains that they took direct action to force negotiation from the oppressors, and without pressure from the oppressed, there is no change in civil rights. King describes the difficulties colored people face being discriminated, and how they are impatient for change. He then highlights the hypocrisy of the oppressors, by explaining the difference between just and unjust laws, and references past civil disobediences in order to prove how breaking unjust laws isn't wrongful. King furthers his letter by discussing his frustrations about the different ways people react to discrimination and explaining how the nonviolent actions are not extreme, but simply a way for built-up frustrations to be released.
