I’ve had to fill in 3 forms, send and receive around 20 emails, use the key travel app on multiple occasions, spend a lot of my work time (and colleagues work time) doing this for a simple return train ticket.

I’m not convinced this is more environmentally sustainable than being able to just book my train myself and claim back on expenses.

Thoughts?

Just to follow what has already been said about consumables waste in research. In lab based and NHS based research in particular, there is a huge problem with the amount of single-use plastic consumables when trying to balance patient safety, infection control and sustainability. Most consumables are supplied in huge quantities and have short expiry dates for no particular reason. So much ends up going to waste because it’s “expired” when it is probably fine to still be used. Do you think industry and manufacturers could be engaged to take more responsibility for this issue by e.g. taking consumables back for recycling, extending expiry dates, supplying smaller quantities etc.
