  • Neptune is made up of Hydrogen, helium, and methane. 
  • The planet is blue because the methane absorbs the red light from the sun
  • it projects a blue color into space, but it only appears as if it is blue

  • The atmosphere is made up of little water and other ices. 
  • The highest part of Neptune’s atmosphere is touching space. 
  • It is made up of 80% of hydrogen, 19% helium, and there is a trace amount of methane

  • The weather on Neptune is very strange and is the wildest weather in the solar system, 
  • it has huge storms with extremely high winds, 
  • it can have dark spots that will come and go 
  • there can be white cirrus-like clouds that change a lot. 
  • Its average temperature is -353 degrees fahrenheit. 
  • The reason why it is so cold is because it is so far away from the sun that it gets hundreds of times less sunlight than Earth does. 
  • It is still a mystery about how Neptune gets so much energy to form such big storms

  • Neptune has 13 moons that we know about
  • the biggest moon orbiting Neptune is named Triton, it is smaller than Earth’s moon. 
  • Neptune also has 5 rings too. They were not confirmed until Voyager 2 passed by in 1989. 
  • Although when an astronomer found Triton he recorded that he saw rings but they did not record it.
