- Atmosphere: Rain and darkness are used to show suspense in the atmosphere, per seen in chapter 5 when it begins with "It was a dreary night of November..."
- Suffering: The creature was created and was immediately excluded from our society. It suffered because it was abandoned and was perceived as unnatural, disgusting, etc..
- Supernatural: The creatures creation was supernatural because Frankenstein took several dead body parts in order to make one 8ft creature.
- Ominous dreams: Right after creating the monster Frankenstein falls asleep and dreams of Elizabeth; "she Elizabeth, in the blood of health, walking... I embraced her, but as i imprinted the first kiss on her lips, they begin livid with the hue of death" foreshadows that something terrible will happen to Victors love, for it compares Elizabeth to his dead mother
-

Victor, he is murdered! I will not attempt to console you; but will simply relate the circumstances of the transaction.” p.46

3.Omens:

“My departure was therefore fixed at an early date; but, before the day resolved upon could arrive, the first misfortunate of my life occurred -- an omen, as it were, of my future misery. Elizabeth had caught the scarlet fever; her illness was severe, and she was in greatest danger.” p. 23

4.Atmosphere:

“All of the soul-inspiriting fled with sleep, and dark melancholy clouded every thought. The rain was pouring in torrents, and thick mists hid the summits of the mountains, so that I even saw not the faces of mighty friends.” p. 66

5.Emotion:

“‘Hateful day when I received life!’ I exclaimed in agony. ‘Accused creator! Why did you form a monster so hideous that even you turned from me in disgust? God, in pity, made man beautiful and alluring, after his own image; but my form is a filthy type of yours, more horrid even from the very resemblance. Satan had his companions, fellow-devils, to admire and encourage him; but I am solitary and abhorred.’” p. 93
