         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the mid 1920s, the lake had to be drained regularly owing to the fact that a motorcycle, a bike frame, 8 car wheels and 6 truck wheels were found in the lake. In 1929, diving boards and steps were erected at the lake. Later, wading pools for both children and adults were built.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Coburg Lake Weir</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The weir next to Gaffney Street, also at the end of Coburg Lake, flows under the bike path and into a river. Birds (seagulls mostly) normally sit on the edge of the weir threatening to be washed away by the rushing water.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Water Rats</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Much larger than the domestic rat, Water Rats often have a white tip on their tail. They use their long tail like a rudder as they swim, diving for insects and small fish. Under the surface of the lake is a sea of insects, like Dragonfly Nymphs and Water Snails. These are the natural food for many of the birds and animals who live in Coburg Lake.</div>]]></description>
