1. Early Childhood Education: While PreK participation continues to increase, the PALS scores for hispanic students remains well below the target. In addition, since 2015, the PALS scores for all groups has decreased. How are we ensuring quality early childhood education for all students?
2. Additional Measures of Success Beyond SOLS/AP Classes. There is so much more to a student than his/her performance on one isolated SOL test. What other measures are we using to gather growth and performance?
3. Transforming the TAG program. As stated in chapter 2, the TAG evaluation found a disproportionate number of economically disadvantaged and minority students in TAG classes. It seems these students are instead placed in classes where test prep is more common. How are we ensuring rich and meaningful learning for ALL students.

1. Is ACPS still implementing ICAP? Tenants and Workers United advocated for this program in 2007-2009? to ensure individualized action plans for students beginning in 8th grade, I believe. I think this program would be effective and foster support so students can provide the necessary support in the classrooms.
2. the need for Restorative Practices' continued expansion and necessity of an evaluation. RP emphasizes learning and sharing positive principles and practices in the school environment that can create just and equitable learning environments that would be efficient in closing the achievement gap.

1. K Readiness What do we know about where students are coming from as they enter K? From the last email communication it was shared that" Black students have a similiar K readiness as White and Asian students". What percentage of entering students of all races and ethnicities were enrolled in Head Start, prek, private preschool, etc? How might we make a tighter connection with existing entities and at the same time ensure access to learning opportunities/services to those who come to K with no prior formal learning opportunities. What are those particular demographics? What % of preschool students/families does ACPS serve directly, indirectly through older siblings, through partner organizations in the community? How can we maximize the relationships?

I am curious about the results in general. 2016 seems to be a peak year for results in many areas, but then see declines over the next two years. What drove this drop? Increase in students from outside the district? ELL learner increase? Kindergarten readiness has seen great declines. I would want to look at K readiness from 10 years ago to see how if it has any discernible impact on graduation rates, SOL test scores, etc..

Why has science seemed to buck the trend of most other subject areas?

What training's are provided to instructional leaders to support them modifying curriculum to align with the varying academic level of their students?

ACPS should prioritize lowering the dropout rate of hispanic students - possibly with increase family engagement, great family resources, case management, mentorships..

How much of an overlap exists between these two groups and what programs/plans do we have have in place to support our Hispanic/EL students? And what are we planning for the future?

-In terms of doingmore community outreach, what exactly will that look like? When will it happen? And how do we do it genuinely?

The top 3 priorities should be:

1. To ensure that all students are equally challenged and engaged in a very hands on and interactive way to capture their full attention and potential, regardless of their educational level. Have the same types of after school programs and clubs in every school so that every student regardless of level, ability and/or class is given the same opportunity to learn, excel and reach their full potential.

2. To make all schools STEAM based so that students are introduced and prepared for what the future needs and expects and no student is left behind nor bored.

3. To teach all students true history and not the same old revised version that continues to perpetuate white supremacy. Create an opportunity to have honest dialogue of how we heal and move forward as a nation and world community, understanding and accepting ourselves and one another. Give students the opportunity to think about, reflect and come up with solutions how to solve generational issues and divides and be world citizens and family member of humanity.

The data included economically disadvantaged category. The priorities should address this area in addition to the academics. TC Williams High School added second chance breakfast and after school dinners, as well as some schools are not charging for student meals. This is a step in the right direction.
