Guide on writing a review

A review is a kind of evaluation of something, which can be both negative or positive. Is some sort of appraisal which can be centered on a book, film, videogame, etc. In my opinion one of the most essential components of a review are personal valorations and how they could make the reader choose or not to consume the particular issue of the review. The best places where you can read them are forums or web pages dedicated to them, aside from today's most common form of getting access to them which are videos on different platforms. They could also be read in magazines or newspapers. Even sometimes web pages where you can see movies/series have some summarized reviews, not to say the typical star-meter, that could help you evaluate if you are going to like it or not. Usually, they have about five paragraphs: an introduction, the three main paragraphs to lead to a conclusion. On the introduction of a film review the focus is synthesising what the movie is about without making any spoilers. The first paragraph should talk about the themes, the second is focused on character development and lastly the third one should be about the setting of the film. To finish everything up, the conclusion should be the place where you can express your own feelings in addition to ranking and recommending the film or not. Some useful vocabulary would be: well-directed, expertly directed, …‘s writing is astonishing/spectacular, The story unfolds in, a must-see, among so many others.

Looking for a heartwarming experience to enjoy on a comfy sunday? Then “The intern” by Nancy Meyers is clearly a movie for you, a movie for everybody indeed, if you surpass the age restriction of course. A light, not to say utterly enjoyable film about friendship in the most unexpected way. The story of a modern business that comes across a new marketing idea: making seniors over the age of sixty-five interns. Which was the perfect opportunity for Ben Whittaker, a widower tired of not having something to do that fulfils him. Once hired, he gets assigned to be the boss’ personal intern. Jules, the boss and company founder seems reluctant at first, but Ben’s friendly nature softens her tough looking exterior.

The movie’s main themes are generational differences and how they can create a certain prejudice among each age group. This can be seen clearly when the senior interns arrive on their first day. Ben is wearing a full on suit and carrying an antique briefcase with stuff he used to use at work before retiring. Stuff that in a nowadays office is almost obsolete. He also finds himself doubtful of how to turn a modern computer on. Whereas younger generations such as the one working among him have a much clearer idea on how to manage technology. Despite his first interactions with his fellow coworkers, Ben has years of experience dealing with people and managing a company, so he fits in quickly. Proving everyone that judged him for being older wrong. This, along with Jules character, sets another theme to the movie: which is the importance of hard work. She came from trying clothes on and showing them online to having her own business and employees.

Robert Deniro’s acting is astonishing. Being used to seeing him portray a hard and impenetrable role to watch him be all soft and warm is something that anyone who has followed his career would be surprised by. Anne Hathaway does a very good job as Jules. She is an incredibly talented actress, making them an unimaginable nevertheless exceedingly brilliant duo. Ben has a sweet yet sassy personality that makes him a lovable character. However, he does not face much change throughout the course of the movie. The one who does change is Jules, She starts being this unreachable character that is completely negated on working with a senior. But the journey gets her a new friend and new challenges to overcome.

The movie is set in Brooklyn, 2015. The scenery is amusing and additionally well planned. Ben’s house is warm moreover suiting, whereas the office is bright and luminous. Despite this, on the scenes where Jules and Ben are making a stronger bond the lighting gets warm yet striking. As if the film was mixing the two worlds together. Which added a nice touch for those who appreciate storytelling on filmatography.

As a final statement I may say that I truly recommend this film. After wiping a few tears seeing how cute Robert Deniro’s character is, and deciding i want Ben to be my grandpa, I would say that you should totally go watch it. I would give this movie a four and a half out of five stars. You will see why.

“The Intern” is a friendly film about friendship between coworkers, with the exception that one of them is in her thirties and the other is seventy years old. This is no impediment for them to become friends, well, it was not at first, but who does not like a challenge once in a while?

The word “patronizing” makes allusion to the question the interviewer asks to Ben while having his first meeting with people working in the company: Where do you imagine yourself in ten years? Which is kind of redundant to a person who has Ben’s age, as he has been retired for a long time now.

Paige does not actually know what “hysterical” means but she makes us think about what it would be to be Jules’ intern.

Ben finds Jules inspiring due to the fact that she became her own boss and did everything by herself. Coming from nothing but a hobby to constructing a business with more than two-thousand employees.

Jules mocks on her employees while being drunk, which is not a good image of a boss. Ben is also extremely polite and mannered so seeing her like that would probably be unsettling for him.

1. Assignments are important to keep our minds active and connected to school even though we are not assisting. If we resume doing homework for a while it would probably cost us two-hundread times more when we will have to come back to class, That is why I do not think we have to stop doing assignments.
2. I did not like this assignment that much, it was too long. I know we had time to do it but I actually think that assigments should take us less than an hour considering the time we also spend on videocalls. And of course we need some freetime. I have the constant feeling of being in a sunday in which i have to do homework until late at night and I am really stressed out all the time. So maybe next time the assignment could be shorter or devided on smaller ones separated in different weeks.
