Furthermore, people will be far more effective and accentuated if they come together than if they stand as one person. It is a natural instinct to feel less powerful when you are facing a large group of people and to feel more powerful when facing a single individual. In this proverb, the crocodile resembles any challenge or obstacle that people may face and the river represents the road to overcoming that obstacle. Thus the proverb is saying that the injustices in the world will not defeat you if you try to overcome that obstacle together. Throughout our history, the concept of being stronger together has been proven to be effective in many instances. Protests and strikes have been very powerful mechanisms in which people come together to fight for what they believe is right and just. Some of the most effective protests and strikes include the "March on Washington" where MLK Jr. led hundreds of thousands of African Americans on a march to freedom. This protest is said to have inspired people throughout time and helped bring blacks closer to freedom and equality. Collective Bargaining is another example of how people work together to get what they want. Collective Bargaining is a technique used by unions where workers negotiate with management as a group, not individually. This is a much more efficient way of negotiating contracts because it makes workers more powerful and influential since they are speaking as many opinions. The idea of being stronger together is also a concept used by people in positions of power because people must come together in order to be a strong nation that can get things done.
