Fake branded goods, software, moves and music is in the decline. This is due to decisive action the Thai government carried out in 2017 such as enforcement of the law, education and new legal provisions are all playing their part. There are famous football clubs in the UK which are against the fake football shirts as it effects their clubs. This causes the UK football clubs to speak out to the UK governments. This might cause conflict between the UK government and the Thailand government because the people producing these fake shirts are gaining huge profits where as the UK clubs would be losing out money as their fans would be buying cheaper fake shirts instead of the more expensive real club shirts. An undercover investigator for British sportswear manufacturers Umbro has said, "The shirts that we are seeing now in the UK are predominantly coming from Thailand. I would say at the moment Thailand is our number one priority for the manufacture of counterfeit football shirts."

- The government loses approximately 500 million euros per year in tax revenues due to the sale of fake merchandise, which in turn affects the average taxpayer.
- Counterfeit products directly affect the football clubs themselves. Football clubs are losing money fast and to tackle this problem some football clubs have halved the prices of their shirts in a bid to convince consumer to by originals.
- Currently England's 12-year kit deal with Nike is reportedly worth $457 million. Recently the Nigeria football federation (NFF) complained about how counterfeiters can potentially ruin deals like these.

Due to this large industry a lot of factories have to be set up in Thailand and this has caused many chemicals and pollutants to pollute the air causing harm to the local people such as breathing problems and high cancer rates.
Also to bring the football shirts to places like the UK where they can be sold means a lot of shipping has to take place which can impact the amount of greenhouse gases go into the air. shipping can also ruin the marine Eco system by polluting the ocean.
