As a teacher, I believe we have a lot to learn from our students. Especially early in their education, they are flexible, adaptable, and resilient. In schools, we have each year of students and in the back of our heads we know at what point they went virtual due to Covid. However, the students are not showing us that from their attitudes, learning, or energy.

Short answer, no! Each person is different. Each learner and each classroom are different. Each person is going to change and grow at their own rate. As a teacher, we each see a different are for growth in our own classrooms. A district may have all the same idea for a way their schools can grow. Each individual is going to take different steps to grow. For a district, the end product may be the same but the steps to get there certainly is not.

An example for students would be in the way students respond to others. In my class we have social and emotional lessons. One of the lessons we talk about is ways to work with others. This is a lesson that we go back to frequently throughout the school year. My students worked on a group project and most of the groups were not functioning well. I saw an area for growth. For students to grow in this are they had to change some of their behaviors. We reviewed our lesson and then we sat down and had a restorative circle. We talked about what went well, what didn't go well, and how we could do it differently. That day when the students went back to work on their projects, they changed their behaviors. They grew in their ability to work with a group

I believe learners and educators respond in similar ways to change. The Covid-19 pandemic is a huge example of teachers reacting to change. They shifted all their practices and made sure that that they were doing all they could for their students. However, day to day change with educators looks a little bit different than the Covid-19 pandemic. Day to day, we have educators that willingly embrace change. We have those who are reluctant in responding to change, and we have those who may refuse change.

When my students were having a really hard time working together in groups, I was tempted to stop the project. However, when I went to another educator to talk about it, they suggested I try a restorative circle. I changed the way I responded to my students. I grew in my management skills and my students grew in their teamwork skills.
