Mark Anders explains all the different things that backpacks can have or need. There are two different types, one is internal frame and external frame. They are both good for different reasons and knowing what each one is good for is important. Comfort is also most likely the most important factor of the backpack. 

This source was helpful because I did not know much about the basics of backpacking so getting a base knowledge is very important. Chris explains how the difference between waterproof and water resistant. He says how waterproof will let 0 water in at all costs but water resistant will resist water until a certain point.

The difference in waterproof and water risistant is very different and knowing what each one does is very important. The different materials that are water proof are a lot of the synthetic fibers. Knowing what materials are waterproof is very helpful.

So finding fresh, clean, drinkable water is many times very hard and difficult to find, and even if you have a water pump it takes almost an hour to fill up to a gallon and is very space consuming. Knowing this the U1-B55 has concord the mission to have fresh drinking water. A built in light weight pump is connected on the right side and is easily accessible and is not as space consuming because it is built in the side. There is also a pump that will let you filter water from any source. Another thing is that the pump is equipped with a vacuum and keeps the water cold and refreshing. Having this pump will allow you to survive harsh conditions.
