My Why:
I do this work because I know what it feels like to be a student without enough support. I almost dropped out of high school until one person believed in me and inspired me to do better. That experience fuels my passion to show up for students every day and be the support they deserve.

My Experience:
I have over 10 years of experience in counseling and hold a Master’s in Education. I helped implement PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) across four schools, and I’ve worked in the nonprofit sector for 15 years. As a Senior Director at the YMCA, I led a department of 30 staff and oversaw five after-school program sites. I’m also the founder of my own nonprofit organization, which expanded its work to the Dominican Republic this past summer.

Fun Fact:
I have a twin sister who also works in the DOE, and people are constantly mistaking me for her!

I do what I do to bring joy in learning through movement and diverse experiences. Helping students connect with learning in ways that feel engaging and exciting is at the heart of my work.

I bring seven years of teaching experience to the classroom, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Teacher Education and Teacher Development at Montclair. This journey allows me to combine practice with research to deepen my understanding of teaching and learning.

Outside of academics, I have a special friend—a groundhog named Baby Dug. Our little friendship always brings me joy and balance beyond the classroom.

I became a Social Worker because I wanted to work with adolescent who were going through difficult time. I wanted to help make a difference in their lives, just like a social worker did for me.

My experience:

I have over 15yrs of experience in the field of social work. I have worked in PINS (Persons in need of supervision). I have also done crisis intervention and family therapy.

I do this work because I want to support students and families during some of the hardest moments of their lives and this field gives me the opportunity to do just that to advocate for those who may not have a voice and making sure that no one feels alone in this journey

Fun Fact: I was almost born on February 29th so I could have been technically 7 by now.
