Where Is There Conformity In Gilmore Girls?

Seen here is the conformity from Lorelai. This was when she was asked to do a fashion show and she was happy to do that as long as her mother also was involved. The first point she was happy to do this then she was made aware that she would be doing a joint collection with her mother. initially she hated that idea and couldn't think of anything worse. She talked to her mother who was already in the suit and who was just telling her to do it she then felt that if she didn't she would let down Rory as it was a fundraiser for her school, Lorelai then conformed to this ideal of the 'perfect' mother, daughter duo. The reasons that she conformed were due to the fact that there was only a small group of people telling her what to do and how to feel about it. These people consisted of herself, her mother and the dresser lady. Having only a small group meant that she was more compelling to fit in and be like the rest and not be different. She was aware that the social norm would have been to just do it as it was for charity which contributed to her conforming also.

Seen here is the obedience of Lorelai, when Headmaster Charleston says for her she can take her out of Chilton because she can't handle the pressure. Headmaster Charleston then walks over to the door and says she can leave, this is when she obeys him and leaves. This is obedience because the demand or oder comes from someone from an authority figure i.e the headmaster. This made Lorelai feel like she had to do what he said because he has a higher rank and more authority than she had. Another reason that Lorelai obeyed what Headmaster Charleston said was because there was a threat of punishment to her and her daughter which wasn't worth the fight.

Seen here is the aggression of Rory, when her goal isn't met by her not being able to take this test which she has been studying really hard. She arrives late and storms in to take the test like normal, but Mr Medina says she needs to leave because she can't take the test. Then Paris makes a statement under her breath which was when Rory snaps and has a go at the teacher, Paris and Tristan another student in the class. First what happened was Rory was unable to reach her goal i.e the test, and this environmental cue i.e Paris whispering under her breath, then led to her aggression i.e the 'fit'.
