I enlisted in Koreyano 10 because I wanted to learn Korean in a formal and interactive space.

I wanted to learn Korean in order to gain a deeper appreciation for Korean songs and hopefully begin to understand them without subtitles and translations.

My current favorite KPop groups are Red Velvet and LOONA, though I've been a fan of SNSD since 2008 (I'm a casual listener now). My favorite KDramas are "Because This Is My First Life" and "Reply 1988".

I expect to learn to read Hangeul and pronounce the syllables correctly, as well as speak basic Korean sentences and understand basic conversation.

As the semester starts, I'd like to tell myself "Malapit na! Makakagraduate din tayo!"

I enlisted Koreyano 10 as I am interested in learning Korean since I’ve always enjoyed watching/listening to Kpop groups and Kdramas, I have also been interested on their culture and by learning their language would be the first step to really understand their culture.

I've enlisted in Koreyano 10 because I've been fascinated by their language, culture, and food ever since I started watching Kdrama (Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo). My favorite Kpop group is GOT7, but I usually listen more to Khiphoprnb. 😁🙏🏻 I hope to learn basic conversations and to read Hangul faster to keep up with singing Korean lyrics. 👍👍 I expect the class to be engaging, and I'm prepared to remind myself that learning the language is challenging but fulfilling with effort and practice.

Why did you enlist in Koreyano 10? Why do you want to learn Korean?

— I wanted to try learning a language in a formal setting, and I thought Kor 10 would be fun to take :) I’ve always enjoyed watching Kdramas and I just got into Kpop last year. I want to learn the language to appreciate their songs better (and para maintindihan na rin sila pag nag-lilive char 🤭). I also want to visit Korea after graduation, so learning a bit of the language is a must.

I can’t say I’m an active fan, but I’ve always loved the music of MAMAMOO, Dreamcatcher, and (G)I-DLE.

Before the semester starts, I want to tell myself to take it easy. But not too easy. Of course, I don’t expect anything to be easy. It’s hard enough to get through some lessons in our own native language—what more with an unfamiliar tongue? However, having genuine interest in a topic will maintain the necessary motivation to continue on despite the challenges. In other words, Ginusto mo yan. Panindigan mo. sana ung crush ko panindigan rin ako emz

I enlisted in Koreyano 10 mainly because I am interested in Korean culture and entertainment. I am into Kmusic, Kshows, and Kdramas, and I like learning about the rich culture of Korea. Aside from this, I enjoy exploring different languages (although I am not good at it ^😭). I learned Nihongo when I was in high school, and it will be enjoyable to learn more languages, especially a language that I am really interested in 💚. I am interested in learning Korean because I want to watch Korean shows and dramas without looking at the subtitles (or watch the live of an idol with no subtitles). Speaking of Idol, I am really into Korean pop, rnb, ballads, and hip-hop. I am a fan of various artists, and my main ones are Cravity🪐, Seventeen💎, Zerobaseone🌹, Woodz🔥, NCT🏡, and Day6🎤. Aside from listening to their songs, I love learning their choreographies and searching for the meaning behind their songs. Getting into music, I got engaged in watching dramas and movies. I like genres like mystery, thriller, and suspense, but unexpectedly, my favorite Korean dramas are 18 Again and Twinkling Watermelon, which are beyond my comfort genres.

My expectations from the class are to help me learn about the language while immersing me more in Korean culture. I expect the class to be something I won't consider a heavy class because I am really interested in learning this language (I even begged my adviser not to let me drop this course😭😭). To allow all this, I will remind myself as this semester starts to treat this class as a healing one that will help me relieve my stress from the other courses.

I took Koreyano 10 to fill my units, as I am an irregular student struggling to follow the structure of my curriculum.

Learning Korean would be such an aid, as I want to watch K-dramas without subtitles and be able to communicate in Korean with my teammates and international players of taekwondo.

Dining samgyupsal with friends and loved ones, paired with flavored soju, is a culture I adore. You get to cook and eat while enjoying the company of others, rather than just waiting for your meals to be prepped.

Learning a language is like learning a culture. I expect this subject to supplement my knowledge of Korean culture and improve my skills in having to think and speak differently than what I am used to.

Give yourself a fresh start.

My favorite K-dramas are Dr. Romantic, Vincenzo, and Start-Up I expect this class to be memorable (maka-uno haha) since this is my first time taking other foreign language classes.   

I wanted to tell myself to enjoy this semester and create more memories.

Back then (elem and jhs days), my sister was fond of K-dramas and K-pop. I always heard the songs of EXO and GOT7 she played on our TV. However, I didn't care much about Korean stuff until I was in Grade 11. One day, I saw my sister watching "Hotel del Luna," and out of boredom, I decided to give it a try. I found it amazing, and that's what sparked my interest K-dramas and K-pop.

I find learning Korean to be fun and exciting. Being able to watch K-dramas without subtitles and understand the lyrics of K-Pop music are some of the perks of learning the Korean language. Furthermore, I want to improve my fluency in different languages to gain more academic and job opportunities in the future.

My favorite K-Pop artist is IU, favorite K-Pop group is New Jeans, favorite drama is Uncontrollably Fond, favorite food is Bulgogi and fish ice cream sandwich (I forgot the name).

My expectation for my journey in Korean class is that it will be awesome and enjoyable. I anticipate that my professor will guide us thoroughly and encourage participation in the lessons. I look forward to engaging in fun discussions and connecting Korean culture to the lessons.

My favorite drama is Coffee Prince! I plan on going to the filming locations once I land in Seoul. Anyways, my expectation in class is for me to jumpstart my Korean skills.
