In many ancient cultures, fire was considered sacred and often associated with the divine.

Light Bulbs

In 1802, Humphry Davy created the first form of electric light by using a piece of carbon that glowed when connected to a battery. This was the arc lamp, but it was too bright and dangerous for everyday use.

Edison is famous for making the lightbulb commercially viable. He patented a design in 1879 with a carbon filament that burned longer and didn’t burn out immediately.

A lightbulb called the "Centennial Lightbulb" has been burning in a California fire station since 1901! It is often called the world’s longest-lasting lightbulb and has only been turned off a few times for maintenance. It’s still going strong!

Gas lamps are light that use natural gas to create light they were used a lot before electric lights were invented,insted of using electricity like modern light ,gas lamps use a flame to produce light. 1810- 1830s gas lamps started to become popular in cities around the world, they were used in big cities like Paris and New York City.

In the late 1800s to the early 1900s was the end of the gas lamp era because of the invention of the electric of light bulbs by Thomas Edison

LED lights

LED lights use 75% less energy then the light bulb. The LED was invented in 1962 by Nick Holonyak

Candles <3

It was in 3000 BCE when candles were first made. They used to make candles with beeswax or tallow. Asian societies were seperarately making candles out of whale fat as early as 200 B.C. To this day today we still use candels but unlike before we often use them decor or beacuse of their delicions scents.

In 1879 the first electric lamp was put up in washaba Indiana in the United States
