The children now understand some of the VAAs and ACPs better. We used this PP to share the meaning in child friendly speak. They loved the books and finding out if they could spot any of the VAAs and ACPs as we read to them.

Children worked in groups to match the child-speak definitions of selected VAAs and ACPs. We selected a small range of VAAs and ACPs which linked to our hook texts and focus people.

After reading the key texts, we went on a 'treasure hunt' around the corridor to find facts about each significant person. We had to match the facts to the correct person.

Year 6 students explored the depth of human experiences of triumph. Through stories of adversity, students learnt about the varying experiences of what it means to overcome barriers and considered if this always constitutes success or triumph.

The children learnt about perseverance and the importance of it in our lives. We read the story of 'Rube Goldberg' and discussed the ACP's and VAA's he used in his career. We then came up with some interview questions to ask him and used ai generated answers from Rube Goldberg himself!

Children listened to six stories about influential figures who have demonstrated HPL values in their lives. Children then selected which person they would like to focus on and spent the day creating a response to an open question about their life. Responses could be in the form of artistic pieces, posters, poems, written reports or drama pieces. Children came up with excellent questions which inspired rich discussion around HPL values and presented their responses through a variety of creative means.
