The most important traits in metaphors are the ability to convey emotions in a more descriptive and understanding way. Using emotions throughout a writing piece is beneficial to both the author and to the audience. Authors using metaphors with emotional attachment and background are able to convey and reach their audiences in a way that they're able to connect with one another. In regards to the audiences, they're able to feel the emotions displayed throughout a writing piece and get a feel for what the author is attempting to layout for them. All in all, these metaphors are very useful and inspirational to both the reader and the writer.

Metaphors should leave the reader with an in-depth image in their minds. A lot of students mistake writing as just a bunch of words on a piece of paper - including myself. This also means that we fail to see that writing is much more than that. A metaphor is a simple way to place a vivid picture into the readers minds and help them gain a better understanding of what the paper is about. After reading through the metaphors, I realized that everyone did a great job of doing just this.

A metaphor about writing is one that captures the struggle of writing, but also demonstrates how that struggle makes the end result much more impactful, to not just the readers but the writer as well. In my own metaphor I said Writing is Fuel, and that's true for me, but that doesn't mean that an abundance of fuel can't lead to one throwing it all in the fire at once, burning up all your resources at once and getting burned in the process. On the flip side of this, there isn't always ENOUGH fuel to keep anything more than a meager flame. Truthfully, Writing is a Furnace and it's the ideas that act as fuel.
