I chose Santiago. I chose him because he is easy to do. I also was forced to do this project so I had to pick someone. Talking about Santiago the narrator states: "He had turned twenty-one the last week in January and he was slim and pale and had his father's Arab eyelids and curly hair"(7). It's pretty obvious that this is a good quote because it describes him.

I chose Santiago Nasar because he is the first character that is well described in the novel. Santiago Nasar "administered [his plantation] with very good judgement but without much luck" (5). I think that this quote describes Santiago Nasar quite well. On the morning of his death, he is without his guns that he always carried because he was dressed in white linens to greet the bishop. If it had have been any other morning, he would have been able to defend himself, but he was unlucky. He missed a note lying by the front door that carried a warning about the plot against his life. His intentions were good, but his luck was bad (Also he was a pervert which I do not like (obviously) but enough on that).

I chose Purisima del Carmen, the mother of Angela. I wanted to cover her due to her strict nature and I already had a very clear picture of her in my head while reading. The title of my piece is "Love can be learned too" (35). I feel as if this line, as said by Carmen, shows her strict and unemotional nature. She regards love and affection as something that can be taught or learned overtime reflecting on her past profession as a teacher.

I chose Angela. I like drawing girls. Also, I feel like she is both a very complex and very mysterious character. We only know what she wants us to know, both about her and what

I chose Angela Vicario, because I felt that she was a very dynamic character. To me she represents the Latin American woman, and I was really excited to draw her and her components. When looking for a title, I thought of the line "Mistress of her fate for the first time, Angela Vicario then discovered that hate and love are reciprocal passions" (93). I chose this line because it defined Angela as a person who felt deeply, and was equally affected by love and hate.

I chose Bayardo San Román for my mini project. The drawing will be based on the initial description of him, looking “around 30 years old, but they were well-concealed, because he had the waist of a bull fighter, golden eyes, and a skin slowly roasted by saltpeter” (25). This description is the best for Bayardo because it gives the initial impression of him, but without delving into his charcter. Due to his good looks and wealth people like him but don’t see the person he really is and instead see a handsome, well aged, and fit man.
