Learning Issue #2: How can the dramatic centre be designed such that it does not allow the children to leave and distract children in other learning centres?

1. A good place for dramatic centre is near the block centre or centres which tend to be noisy. The dramatic centre should be bordered by shelves, furnitures or walls to avoid or lessen the amount of noise level emission from the dramatic centre.
2. Use different prop box themes as a way of varying the types of materials for children as they will be bored with the same type of materials after a period of time.
3. Limitless props and materials can invite the children into staying in the dramatic centre and they will be too absorbed to try out the different items to go and disturb the children in other centres.
4. The materials can be organised and placed in labelled bins or containers in low shelves so that children are able to reach them easily.
5. Shelves, plastic containers, hooks, or wire baskets can be installed to display the different props and materials in an orderly manner with labelled pictures and words. Hanging the props can also allow children to see them easily.

Article link:

https://articles.extension.org/pages/70584/planning-a-successful-dramatic-play-center-in-child-care

Done by: Nur Amirah

1. Making decisions as a group to avoid potential conflict that may arise amongst children.
2. Lay down ground rules before starting on the activity
3. Teachers should understand how teamwork works, that it is a cooperative process that allows ordinary work to be done even more efficiently with the help of others. 4.Teamwork will only work if the children are willing to work with one another.
5. Teachers should plan on who to place in the same group and not place the children together based on their merits.

Article Link:

Successful teamwork : A Case Study

http://tarjomefa.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/3118-engilish.pdf

Done by: Victoria Ng

Learning Issue #4: What should teachers do to ensure that the toys are safe and developmentally appropriate for the children?

1. Be familiar with your child’s personal abilities and inclinations when estimating the safety of the toy.
2. Toys should pass a cylinder “parts tester” or empty toilet paper roll test. Toys for children aged two years and under, or older or disabled children very prone to mouthing toys, should never fit into the tester or they could lodge in the windpipe to cause choking.
3. Teachers can refrain from buying weapon-like toys so that children learn not to approach or play with real weapons.
4. Ensure that the toys which has sound does not damage the child’s hearing.
5. Ensure that toys or dress up clothing purchased are made of fire retardant materials and also only purchase non-toxic art materials

Article Link:

Toy Safety and Selection: Choose Developmentally Appropriate Toys for Safer Play

http://www.easternflorida.edu/community-resources/child-development-centers/parent-resource-library/documents/toy-safety.pdf

Done by: Nur Khaliqah
