Performance.
As this module looked closely at artistry, the ability to perform (with ease) has left me with one thing less to stress about when it comes to executing the excersises given.
Technique.
As my technique is growing stronger I am able to execute more complex steps without hesitating, for example, the double pirouttes in the jazz assesment. Fortunately my background in training prior to Shockout Arts has helped with performing routines with a fast pace. Quick routines do not phase me however I have watched some of my class mates struggle with the tempo of some excersises especially in jazz. I am grateful for this transferable skill.

Injuries.
For several of the rehearsal lessons for this module, Unfortunately I had a ligament injury in my left knee, resulting in me sitting and taking notes. However I still learned a lot from this process.
Another weakness of mine in this module has been retaining the information between classes. As there has been so much choreography involved in the process, I would often get to class and find myself having to run over the choreography before the lesson began as I was struggling to remember. On the other hand this could have been easily avoided if I would have rehearsed this in my own time. Due to work and other assessment commitments I struggled with this in this particular module. I did record excersises after each lesson so had video references on my mobile phone that I would watch before class.

Keeping my spacing and learning to dance in a group. Before this module I had not had much experience with dancing as a group and was anxious about the module for this reason. Luckily most of my class mates had come from more team orientated backgrounds so it was easy to follow their lead.
Another skill I feel I have bettered in this semester is my attention to detail. I have asked more questions in class about small details that usually I would have not picked up on. I feel this has happened because my pick up rate has improved, Ive had more time to look at the details rather than concentrating on retaining the moves.

Formulate a personal development training plan to get better/faster results. I am impressed with my improvements so far this term however I feel if my external practices would have been scheduled, this would have happened faster and maybe further. Organising my practice time with set goals is something I want to work on.
I also would like to take more classes in subjects I am not trained in that will add to my dance vocabulary for example, salsa. I find the Spanish/Latin culture very interesting and their dance styles flow through a lot of choreographies. I want to be more confident in these kind of styles to give me transferable skills.

Describe and compare the different anatomical demands and artistic and expressive qualities required within the different techniques and styles studied on this module.

All styles require similar physical demands, some more than others. They all require a healthy amount of stamina and technique, good musicality, and excellent performance. 'Classical dance requires a subtle balance of strength, physical fitness, and extreme joint mobility/muscle flexibility'. (Health and performance enhancement, 2014)
I do feel commercial lacks the need for facility compared to ballet and jazz, however those who have this skill usually have a different style to their movements. Although big kicks and leaps arent required in commerical choreography I still this it is imperative that dancer have a limber body to execute the moves.
Ballet does require alot more controll than Jazz and commercial, especially when it comes to adage. There is nothing that compares to adage in any other major style that requires such strengh and balance. However if you do have good balance and strength from your adage, it is an excellent transferable skill that will be esential across all genres.
The musicality in contemporary and commercial differs to ballet and jazz. I feel this is because ballet and jazz were designed for audiences, therefore non dance spectators have to be able to enjoy and understand what is happening in a performance. Because of this I do feel as though the music and timing for these styles are somewhat predictable compared to commerical and contemporary. On the other hand good musicality is key to a dancer looking effortless.
Performance wise, Ballet and Jazz I would describe as using an 'extrovert' expression, whereas in a commercial routine I feel expression can be selfish. Ballet and Jazz were built for audiences therefore I feel has only the intention of being asethetically pleasing to spectators however with commercial, you can be more into your own and expressions can be more subtle. Obviously this depends wholey on the choreography.

After mastering my double pirouttes I am now aiming for tripples and more, my weakness is staying up on demi point. I can improve this by doing ankle/foot strengthening excersises for example, simple rises on one foot. 'Pirouette is a classical ballet term meaning “spin.” It describes when a dancer is turning around one leg with the other off the ground and in a position, most commonly in passé. A pirouette can be done either en dedans, turning in towards the supporting leg that the dancer is turning on, or en dehors, which is turning away from the supporting leg.'
