Sometimes we do not stop to think that behind a play, an exhaustive research work has been carried out, as in the case of "What did you do in the war, mum?" In which 60 women were interviewed about the work they performed during the Second World War. We can know firsthand how each and every one of them carried out agriculture, administration or manufacturing jobs. Noelia G.

I had the opportunity to listen to Pam during her latest visit to the EOI. That time she talked about another work, "Goodnight Children Everywhere".

I remember how interesting her speech was. At first, I was wondering if I'd be able to understand her, because I was doing the B1course at the time, but she found the way to express herself beautifully as well as clearly.

She managed to convey the emotion that involved the issue abd the audience enjoyed the way she transmitted her knowledge, as I suppose t she will do this time again.
Alberto S.

Reading the book has made me think about women as human beings.

If we go through history, women have usually been considered vulnerable people who cannot do important things. This is not true. Women have been part of truly remarkable events, but these haven’t been published due to obscure interests.

I believe Pam is a brave woman. Her book has revealed to us the true nature of women, who are capable of performing any action even when it is very difficult and unpleasant.

In addition, the book has allowed me to find out about the role played by women in World War II, which many of us didn’t know about.
Ángeles R.

It's much more than a book.
It's the window that allows us to see the hidden side of the war, outside the battlefields.
Reading this book all of us have been running off to the shelter, stretching out our rations, overworking until exhaustio but doing our patriotic duty, separated from our children. But we have also been dancing, waltzing, foxtrotting and singing. This es the real war. Thanks again. Elena R.

The conference and the meeting with Ms. Pam Schweitzer last March, 7th has been very interesting and emotional at the same time.

She began by reporting from the beginning of the process: background reading, inviting interviewees through press, gathering older people, groups in groups, recording these interviews, preserving and ordering memories. She remarks some positive & negative findings from research interviews.

She added the list of jobs performed by women, highlighting the most important ones. finally, she commented on the decision to publish the information gathered from the interviews, how to publish them and collect photographs of the women and the publications of the time. She explained why she used verbatim as a form to give authenticity and make a strong connection with the audience members, for instance, in the case of Iris joining the WAAF.

The following step was going into production, involving interviewees in rehearsals, how the show toured for six months across the UK, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium. Definitely her goal was to preserve the past for the future, not only with the students at the University of Greenwich, but also with us, the ones who have carried out this project.

Finally, Ms. Pam Schweitzer had an emotional meeting with all the students at the Language School in Malaga, asking questions to each one of the students about their contribution to the project.

Thanks Mrs. Schweitzer for the courage to rescue the memory of women. We absorbed their enthusiasm in a way that made us reflect on the Spanish women who also deserve to be remembered here.
Ana M.
