I kept a fashion diary from December 9th to December 22nd. I recorded what I wore on weekends too. All the clothes I wore were made in foreign countries. Most often China and Bangladesh. I bought most of the clothes in stores, and a few pieces of clothing online (Shein). As I recorded the composition of the fabrics from which the clothes were made every day, this motivated me to prepare an article about the types of fabrics made from natural materials.

After creating the diary, my task was to analyze how much smaller my carbon footprint would be if I bought clothes from Croatian manufacturers. I completed my task using a table that assigned points to individual items based on their distance from Croatia. The calculation table was provided by the Croatian association DOOR (Society for Sustainable Design). An article about my calculation was published in the school's digital newspaper Klinček.

In December, I bought 5 pieces of clothing. This is the diary I have compiled from the clothes I have been wearing for a couple of weeks. Most of the clothes I wear are casual, so the composition and the origin of the clothes is quite similar. Most of the clothes have been made in Asia, with all that that means in terms of carbon emissions in transport.

With the data from the other colleagues, we will elaborate a small statistical study to determine the carbon footprint.

Leila 's fashion Diary

I kept a diary from 1st to 9th decenber recording what I wore. I noticed that most of them are made in eastern Asia like Bangladesh, China or Cambodia, or in Africa. Only one sweatshirt was made in my country . I bought most of themi in store but I also bought one piece of clothing online on Shein. Thanks to the workshops we have done within the project I can now undeerstand the type of fibres my clothes are made of and which of them are synthetic or natural ones.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve kept a diary tracking the clothes I’ve worn. Since my wardrobe is largely casual, there’s a noticeable pattern in both the materials used and the countries of origin. A significant portion of these garments were manufactured in various parts of Asia, which inevitably involves a considerable environmental cost due to the long-distance transportation required — particularly in terms of carbon emissions.
