         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;</div><div>There is a water slide that is constructed with the following equation y = -x<sup>2</sup>(x-1)<sup>2</sup> You are wondering how long a water slide ride takes to return to ground level (0 feet), <em>x</em> being time in minutes, and <em>y</em> being height in feet (where the water slide starts at 0 minutes)<br><br>Solve:&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>y = -x<sup>2</sup>(x-1)<sup>2</sup>&nbsp;</div><div>Solve for x-intercepts by plugging in 0 for y, and using the zero product property to solve. Set both &nbsp;</div><div>expressions equal to zero and solve. The x-intercepts are (0,0) Double, (1,0) Double. The time it would take to get from the start to the finish is 1 minute.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Researchers are following the path of a dolphin. They first see the dolphin at the surface of the water 30 feet from the sand. Then, the dolphin glides above the water for 20 feet before diving underneath at 50 feet from the sand. The scientists see the dolphin resurface at 70 feet from the sand and watch the dolphin dive underneath again immediately after surfacing. What is a potential polynomial equation for this example?<br><br>Solve:<br><br>The end behavior is down down, which means that the leading coefficient is negative and the degree is even. The x-intercepts are (0,30), (0,50), and (0,70). (0,30) is a single root because it goes through. (0,50) is a single root because it goes through. (0,70) is a double root because the line bounces off of the x-axis in the graph.<br><br>To form an equation from this, you must plug in the x-intercepts to the equation and make the leading coefficient negative .&nbsp;<br><br>Equation:<br><br>f(x)= -x-30(x-50)(x-70)^2</div>]]></description>

He uses the equipment from the physics lab to build and launch his rocket. The rocket launches from ground level and  it forms a parabola shape in regards to the path it traveled.  John digs a trampoline into the ground so the top is ground level. This is located 3 feet to the right of the launching station. The rocket will bounce off of the trampoline when it comes back down after the launch. After the rocket bounces back up, the rocket will come down again and hit the ground 5 feet to the right of the launching station.
