The Prisoner Who Wore Glasses

The short story, "The Prisoner Who Wore Glasses," relates to the essential question of 'What are special bonds that link us to family, friends, pets, and communities' by the many relationships Brille, the prisoner, has. The first relationship Brille has would be with his family. Brille talks about his wife and twelve children. Before Brille was sent to prison he worked hard to make money to feed his family.(The Prisoner Who Wore Glasses, 76-89) The second relationship Brille has is with Span One. Span One is his second family. They work together to make sure everyone gets what they need. Brille attempted to bring grapes for them to eat after the warder took away their meals.(The Prisoner Who Wore Glasses, 103-106) The last relationship Brille has is with the warder. Although their relationship started out a little shaky, they worked together like Span One does in the end.

The Cencors

The short story, "The Censors," relates to the essential question of 'What are special bonds that link us to family, friends, pets, and communities' by the strong relationship that the main character, Juan, has with a girl named Mariana. Mariana had sent Juan a letter and after he read her letter, he wrote a letter back to her. After he had wrote it though, he remembered that once he sent it, it probably wouldn't make it through the censors. Juan knew, "they examine, sniff, feel, and read between the lines of each letter, and check its tiniest comma and most accidental stain."(Censors, 14-16) He knew that very few letters make it through the huge censorship offices. So, out of his love for Mariana, he got a job working for the censorship office in order to make sure his letter got through to her. Day after day he worked hard and moved up until finally he got to section B, where barely any letters made it through. When his letter fell into his hands just as he had planned, he censored it without regret. Then the morning after his boss found out about his original plan and killed him. His death wasn't worth the letter he had sent because he had censored it out of habit.

The short story, "Monkey See, Monkey Do, Monkey Connect," relates to the essential question of 'What are special bonds that link us to family, friends, pets, and communities' by the connections between primates (monkeys, chimpanzees, gorillas, lemurs, and humans). One example of the connections between primates would be laughter. The author states that laughter is so infectious that it works across species. He says, "I often hear my chimps laugh during rough-and-tumble games, and cannot suppress a chuckle myself."(Monkey See, Monkey Do, Monkey Connect, 13-15) This is proof that laughter can be very infectious. Another connection would be yawning. Yawning is also infectious across species. If someone were to yawn in front of you, you might also yawn because it's so infectious.

This picture helps to explain the bonds between us by the relationships we have with out pets. Pets make us happy, and are there for us to pet when we are sad. They can most of the time understand human emotion and understand when you are happy or sad. They play with you when you are happy and cuddle with you when you are sad.

This picture helps explain the bonds between us by the relationships we have with our family. We all love the people in our family, even if they make us a little mad sometimes. They are the people who know everything about you and have gone through everything with you. They remember your favorite foods and go to your games and help you with your homework. They are the people you know you can go to when something is wrong because just like you love them, they love you.

This is another representation of our relationship with our pets because cats do the same thing dogs do. They make us feel better when we are sad and we play with them when we are happy. When you pet a kitten, it will purr and this makes me happy. Although animals can be naughty at times, they are very helpful when it comes to boosting your emotion.

I am amorous when someone remembers my favorite food and buys it for me. People are very benevolent when they donate to the humane society. When one of my brothers learns something new I extol them for it. Around Christmas we engendered Christmas cards for our families in French class. On Thanksgiving we are glutton with our families. When I talk about how great my friends are I like to delineate. Although my brothers exasperate me I love them very much. My heart distends when I see an adorable puppy. I find it adorable when my brother belabors his ABC's after school. After seeing my friend perform in a play or sing in a concert, I laud them for their performance.
