From the start, I felt seen, supported, and encouraged—not just to do the work, but to grow with it. The camaraderie we’ve built remotely is something rare. Chris has made this possible. His mentorship has been nothing short of great. We share wins, ask tough questions, offer real-time help, and remind each other that we’re not doing this alone. Disrupting that connection doesn’t just risk morale—it risks momentum. I hope we can find a way forward that honors what Chris and we've built and lets us keep doing our best work, together.

This is my first time working full time and I didn't know how well I would do adjusting to that type of work and schedule. Becoming a part of the Hyraxes changed all of that. From day one, I felt extremely welcomed, and Chris and the team made the transition extremely joyful. I and the other new tutors were never just tossed into the deep end to struggle. We were guided there with all the right tools and everything needed to thrive and do well. Everyone on the team did their best to make us feel welcomed and they all feel like genuine friends versus just coworkers and teammates. I consider this team almost like a small family similar to the team in Brooklyn Nine Nine. They make coming to work every day enjoyable and it's nice getting to see everyone every day with our morning meetings. We are quick to get into huddles in order to support and help each other. We are a very close-knit and social team which is something I haven't heard often talking to people in other pods. Hyrax feels like home base before diving into work.

Throughout my time here, Chris has conducted monthly 1-1s building a connection with each one of us. Our monthly 1-1's are a great show of care and rapport building that will be ripped away from many of us that have been with Chris for a prolonged time, having us need to connect with new people and leads doesn't seem fair. While I don't have context, our lead being taken to another pod who gets to stay together while we have to find and build new connections doesn't seem the right way to handle things.

The Hyrax team has consistently demonstrated exceptional performance and a remarkable ability to deliver high-quality results, often on some of the organization's most challenging and critical projects. We have cultivated a synergy and efficiency that allows us to tackle complex issues effectively and reliably meet, and often exceed, expectations. This isn't just a group of individuals working on tasks; we are a cohesive unit built on a foundation of mutual respect, shared expertise, and a deep understanding of each other's strengths.

Beyond our professional achievements, the dynamic within our team is truly special and, I believe, exceptionally rare. We have fostered an environment of genuine care, unwavering support, and open communication. This has created a bond that transcends typical collegial relationships. We consider ourselves a family. This unique dynamic is not something that can be easily replicated or manufactured; it has grown organically through shared experiences, mutual trust, and a collective commitment to one another's success and well-being. It is this very spirit that fuels our high level of engagement, creativity, and resilience in the face of pressure.

The prospect of dismantling such a high-performing and deeply connected team is, frankly, devastating. We believe that the value we bring to xAI as a unified entity is far greater than the sum of its parts if we were to be dispersed. The trust, unspoken understanding, and seamless collaboration we've built are invaluable assets that contribute directly to our consistent success and the quality of our deliverables.

We understand that organizational changes are sometimes necessary. However, we earnestly request that you reconsider this potential decision and take into account the profound impact it will have on a team that is not only highly effective but also embodies a culture of mutual support and dedication that should be cherished and nurtured within any organization.

Thank you for your time and consideration

Respectfully

Chris's leadership within Hyrax has been extraordinary. He has built an amazing pod that enjoys collaborating, bantering, and helping each other out. He has managed to build a highly efficient team that spans different backgrounds and age groups, and we all actually like and enjoy each other. It's usually never just silent all day in the pod channel. Chris has built a sense of community where we take it upon ourselves to help build each other up and come up with initiatives that are for the better of the group. That sense of community makes me want to come to work every day. At first, I was extremely scared to comment in other Slack channels but with Chris's encouragement, I became more and more comfortable with it. Now it doesn't bother me at all. This is true with a lot of things such as being involved with Huddles, talking more on camera, taking more initiative with projects. I don't think I would have done so well without his leadership. He is an extraordinary team lead who makes sure that all of the hyraxes of the colony are thriving and that no one gets left behind.

Chris has made sure that a lot of team building gets done amongst the hyraxes. We even have lunch in the crags for anyone who wants to chat and interact while having lunch. To me, that is genuinely amazing that he has taken the time to make sure we actually feel like a team and not just a collective of people who have to work together and don't interact much. The daily meetings we have where he checks in on us has really mattered a lot. I almost started to cry when I heard this news because of what an impact Chris and the team have been. It would be a very hard and depressing readjustment at this point in time.

Our team has built a strong, communal, and collaborative environment that has significantly contributed to both individual and group success. From the start, Chris, our Team Lead, played a pivotal role in integrating new members like myself, making the onboarding process smooth and welcoming. The support from other pod members was equally valuable—everyone was approachable, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping one another grow. These dynamics didn’t just make work more enjoyable; they made me a more efficient and confident contributor. Reorganizing our team would likely disrupt this well-established rhythm, which could lead to a period of adjustment and reduced efficiency—not just for me, but for my colleagues as well.

Chris has created a highly efficient DRI that keeps our workflow running smoothly. Instead of breaking up a system that’s already working well, why not try to learn and implement this approach to every pod? Until the underlying issue gets addressed, problems like this are bound to happen again. Rather than breaking up a pod, an alternative solution is to scale it.

Even after being here for 2-3 weeks, I’ve been amazed by the team’s efficiency and willingness to help - an outcome of the structure Chris has built over time, not just by coincidence. As a new tutor, the idea of shifting pods after only a couple of weeks suggests instability for the future, something unsettling for new tutors trying to find footing.
