Not belonging from this country made this discovery the more significant for myself to uncover.
I felt it was somehow a duty as an artist to take away these objects to preserve something which was innate - a preservation of habitat and of human nature.

Bringing these objects into the urban environment is bringing the same sense of awareness as it was within the forest. It proves just how much we can learn from the natural environment and how we should adapt and integrate it within our everyday lives with a deeper concern than it is at this moment. 
These can be looked at from many perspectives whether it be cultural, environmental, or political. I personally view these as a complex weaving of all three and with many other influencing factors. 
It is both harrowing and interesting and is almost a conflicting war between the two emotions. Especially with having such a physical association with the objects.

However, they are the products of urbanisation and can also been seen as symbolic evidence of this ever-growing situation.

What I found surprising is how once this contrasting appearance was vivid among the forest floor, the same issues are often passed and ignored within the urban - its context is flipped completely into something of the ordinary everyday life.

the tree stumps represent the abandonment of the forest itself, like the objects they are associated with -  the sculptures are acting like forces and symbols of urbanisation upon the natural landscape which can lead to deforestation.
The tree stumps themselves as cultural history can be seen to lead back to their cultural heritage- that of the aboriginal people who lived upon the land and who nurtured the land we live on as of now.
Presenting these as someone outside of this cultural background, I feel I need to pay a deep respect to this area and for respect of the land and making aware of this culture.

The idea of the stumps being hand made is again referencing back to the act of deforestation and of urbanisation and recreating forms of nature within an urban environment rather than bringing the urban to the natural - (A strong visual awareness to show this recognition)
Why not use the objects directly? 
The idea of reproduction is also a strong theme within this exhibit to memory of these past objects that can be shattered with passing time and growth of civilisation. It is also a mirroring replica of urban production which also questions the making of art in the modern world and the ethical concerns that carry with it.
