We took part in a guided tour, which included visits to the Municipals Waste Recovery Plant and the relatively new FKF Centre for Awareness and Reuse (FKF Szemléletformáló és Újrahasználati Központ). The guided tour was delivered in English and took around 3 hours.

We learned about:

• The waste pyramid

• Waste management

• Selective sorting

• Waste collection practices

• Recycling

We learned about the importance of protecting nature and how small actions, like picking up litter, can make a big difference. We also got to know more about the GreenTrace Project and its focus on sustainability.

After the hike, we had a BBQ at Normafa, where we relaxed, shared food, and made new friends. It was a great reminder of how we can enjoy nature while also taking care of it. 

During the weekend, we engaged in activities like kayaking along the Tisza River and biking. These activities not only fostered team-building but also allowed us to experience the beauty of nature firsthand.

Through the GREENTRACE workshop, we learned how sports can promote environmental conservation and explored practical ways to incorporate sustainability into our daily lives and events.

The camp strengthened our commitment to protecting the environment while using sports as a tool to inspire positive change. 

The event started with a presentation on sustainability and climate challenges. Participants then worked in teams to apply what they learned, sharing ideas and solving problems together. The three-hour session gave attendees simple, practical knowledge to take action for the environment.

Participants explored the peninsula on foot, bike, or scooter while picking up trash in small teams. The goal was to clean up the area and raise awareness about the importance of staying active and protecting the environment.

The easy 3-kilometer route brought together volunteers for 1.5 hours of teamwork and learning. Trash bags and gloves were provided, making it a simple and enjoyable way to make a difference.

Participants hiked 4.8 km from Gellért Hill to Déli Railway Station, enjoying beautiful views of Budapest while collecting trash along the way. The easy, beginner-friendly hike lasted about 1.5 hours and provided a meaningful way to contribute to a cleaner city.

This free event brought together nature lovers to make a positive impact while exploring the city.

During the three meetings, participants explored different environments—including recreational forests, reserves, and mixed meadows—where they engaged in activities aimed at fostering teamwork, civic engagement, and environmental awareness.

Through interactive workshops, hikes, and forest therapy sessions, young people reflected on their personal connection to nature, learned practical sustainability practices, and developed a deeper understanding of environmental conservation. Activities included:

• Collecting and sorting waste in a frequently visited forest to understand the impact of pollution.

• A guided hike integrating mindfulness, silent observation, and nature-based creative exercises.

• Forest therapy practices such as meditation, self-reflection, and sensory awareness to strengthen the bond with nature.

The program provided a meaningful space for participants to reflect on their environmental responsibilities, share their experiences, and pledge their commitment to sustainability. By fostering a deeper relationship with nature, we empowered young people to integrate sustainability into their daily lives and inspire their peers to do the same.

The day unfolded across meadows, forests, and wetlands, where participants discovered the delicate balance of ecosystems and their role within them. Through guided activities, they explored native plant life, discussed sustainability, and reflected on how human actions shape the natural world. The experience encouraged not only observation but also hands-on engagement, allowing the group to connect with nature through movement, creativity, and self-awareness.

As the program progressed, moments of quiet reflection blended with active exploration, creating a space for participants to strengthen their bond with the environment. By the end of the day, they had not only expanded their knowledge of biodiversity and sustainability but also developed a personal connection to the landscapes around them—one they could carry forward into their everyday lives.

The program began with a conversation on sustainable consumption, setting the tone for the 10 km eco-hike to Murmulių geological outcrop. Along the way, participants observed the environment, discussed the impact of climate change, and took direct action by collecting and sorting litter found on the trail.

Throughout the day, they engaged in practical survival activities, such as building a campfire, baking traditional scout pastries, and participating in the “Forest Treasure” game, which strengthened their teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability in nature.

The experience wrapped up with a group reflection and shared meal, where participants exchanged insights and committed to applying environmentally responsible actions in their daily lives. More than just an outdoor excursion, this program encouraged young people to take an active role in shaping a more sustainable future through knowledge, action, and community engagement.

We pursued this goal explaining that the largest part of the materials used to design the games and activities were upcycled and/or reusable (cardboard packagings, school gym supplies...)

Forthermore, in order to spread up consciusness among the students about the importance of the circular economy approach and giving new life to ordinary objects, we suggested them to desing some upcycled gadgets starting from scraps (old t-shirts and jeans, DVDs, chinese take-away sticks...). They were alble to create bags, photo frames, bracelets holders and many other gadgets.

The goal was to increase skills related to sustainability and pro-environmental behaviour in order to improve also the artificial environment that host the majority of their daily-basis activities.

Critical and creative thinking towards one's own context of life were employed and we collected a wide range of ideas and suggestions that, if implemented, would for sure improve the quality of students life in schools.

Some examples:

• taking care of common green areas and create an urban garden

• refill water station to avoid single use plastic bottles

• digital-oriented school with e-books and material available online

• act upon the school energetic requirement with solar panel and thermal insulation

We organized a couple of activities at the "Marchesi" high school in Padua (Italy) that had the students match environmental related words (like "greenwashing", "European Green Deal", "renewable energy sources") to their definitions.

Moreover, they also had to dispose of waste products images in the proper disposal bins and guess the waste disposal time.    

Furthermore, to improve awareness of environmental impact and climate change, we divided them into two groups and presented them two environmental problems to which they had to find the solutions. 

At the end of these activities we made sure to ask the students if they knew any previous information about the discussed topics and and if they had learned anything new from the workshop. It was very fun watching them learn but also having a good time playing the games.

• Developing critical and creative thinking towards one's own context of life, declining new opportunities to improve their own and others' level of sustainability

• Increasing knowledge about the impact of products on the environment and their proper disposal and the concept of the limits of natural resources
