In the story patina has many bad tragic events in her life going on. Her are a few examples such as her dad died, her mom got diabetes so bad she lost her legs, and Momly and Maddie got in a car wreck and Momly was in the hospital. Although all of those things that occur in the story she is on a track team, and at the end of the story she has a meet going on. Where Patina is on a relay team and at the end it leaves us at a cliffhanger. Wondering did they win?

Patina learns a lesson

In they story she has terrible horrifying events that occur through out the story.Although she did learn a lesson throughout the bad stuff going on in her life. That you have to keep living she can't let those event stop her from pursuing her dreams. She cant let what happened in the past ruin her future and as the story progressed she learned to not let those things hold her back.

I have a text to text connection that I can connect to Patina in the story. The reason is because I know how she feels it is scary when your family member is in the hospital or is hurt. It can be very scary and Patina was scared. I can also connect to her when her father died because I have had family members that have passed away but not someone in my imitate family. So I see why she has is having hardships going through it.

In the book, Patina faces many challengers when she is in meets she is always going against someone. Always is fighting till the end to win against the other people she is racing. She works hard is strong, confident,fast, and funny. Desiring to be the first place winner of the meet "I ain't no junk" Patina says.

Person vs. fear

Patina was fearful when she found out Momly got in a car wreck and was in the hospital she was scared. She did not know what would happen to Momly was she dead is she okay.Those are probably questions she had been wondering. I can only imagine how worried she must have been with what was going to happen next. The reader is also left wonder what happened to Momly, then we find out she is okay.
