         <description><![CDATA[<div>a need or desire that directs behavior <br><br>incentive theory- pos or neg enviro stimuli that motivation behavior <br>     -hunger drives us to eat<br>drive reduction- a physical need creates a drive to satisfy the need <br>      - money doesn't satisfy need but reduces other drives <br>maslow's-  pyramid of human needs<br>hunger drive- both internal and external reasons for hunger: anorexia <br>thirst drive- reduction of fluid in and out side of the cell caused by sodium ( lateral and ventromedial)<br>sexual drive- four stages responding, excite, plateau, orgasm,<br>need to belong-  we need people, we have a need for acceptance <br>achievement- desire for significance <br>      extrinsic- desire for reward<br>      intrinsic- desire for own sake <br>conflict motivate- sometimes what you want to do but other times you have doubt <br>   - approach: occur when you must choose between two desirable outcomes<br>  - avoid: occur when two undesirable out comes are what you must choose<br>  - approach and avoid- when one event or goal has both attractive and unattractive features<br>  - multiple approach avoid: choose between two or more things, each which has both desirable and undesirable features </div>]]></description>
