Reunification of Japan

Japan was reunified by Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu. Oda Nobunaga succeeded mostly due to his military power, he used it as backing, a way to control others, and to take care of threats. The reunification began in 1560s and ended in 1600. Oba Nobunaga was in power from the 1560s until his death in 1582. Toyotomi Hideyoshi established himself as ruler in 1590 and led until his death in 1598. Tokugawa Ieyasu became shogun in 1603 but only ruled for about 2 years before abdicating. It all took place in Japan. While I cannot find any exact reasoning, I assume it was due to Oda Nobunaga wanting to gain power and the other two respected him as a leader and therefore followed him. It ended with Japan being reunified.

Genpei War

The Taira and the Minamoto clans fought this civil war. The war began when the Minamoto clan attempted to overthrow the Taira clan. The Minamoto managed to gain the upper hand, and the Taira clan was forced to flee Kyoto. The Minamoto tricked the Taira into thinking surrender was an option, but it was not and they attacked despite saying a truce could be agreed upon. Nearly a year later, the war was ended in a battle in which the Taira were tricked onto their ships. The ending of the Genpei war marked the rise to power of the samurai and the suppression of the power of the emperor, until the position became entirely symbolic. The war began in 1180 and ended in 1185. It took place in Japan. The Heiji rebellion and the subsequent rise of the Taira were the main cause of the Genpei War. It was resolved after Minamoto's victory.

Invasion of Korea by Toyotomi Hideyoshi

The invasion of Korea was initiated by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a Japanese military leader. The Japanese were initially very successful occupying much of the Korean Peninsula, but they were forced to withdraw from the northern provinces, by the Ming (Chinese) and the Joseon (Korean) dynasties. Neither forces were able to gain any more territory or mount an offense, so they were left in a military stalemate. There were then peace negotiations between the Japanese and the Ming, but these lead to nowhere. The Japanese invaded a second time renewing their offensive forces. The initial invasion began in 1592, there was a brief truce in 1596, a second invasion in 1597, and it ended in 1598 with the withdrawal of the Japanese forces. It took place on the Korean Peninsula. Toyotomi Hideyoshi's plan was to invade China via Korea. It ended when Japanese forces were ordered to withdraw due to Toyotomi Hideyoshi's death, limited progress on land, and the continued disruption of supply lines.
