Definition:
All natural is the belief that all things natural are better for you. Just because it comes from nature doesn't mean its better for you, the labels don't matter. There are many things in nature that are deadly including spider venom, wildlife, and diseases. If the only thing you can say about the product is that it's all natural, than don't touch it.

Connection:
In this video by the Sisyphean Skeptic she is listing and describing things in live that are known as "all natural", but they aren't actually healthy for you. She lists things as common as caffeine, and water and as uncommon as formaldehyde, and monkshood.

Post #3 Red Flag: Confirmation Bias

Definition:
Confirmation bias is when there is a confirmation with what beliefs people have, but don't consider the things that make problems for the belief. Psychics use this red flag often.

Connection:
In this youtube video it is sharing the red flag and how your brain connects with your contagiousness and uncontiousness and how they both lead to bias. Bias is "when we think in a way that leads us to be wrong" as it says in the video. It is connecting the confirmation bias with politicians and how they use bias with the climate change and how we're not hurting the earth, when we really are. Our brains take short cuts because we don't comprehend and take in all of the data we are given.

Definition:
The definition of red herring are distractions from the questions asked by those who have an actual issue they want to fix.

Connection:
In this youtube video, the town of Quahog is trying to figure out who their mayor should be. Mayor West, and Lois Griffin are running against each other. The town is bringing up real issues the their is having Lois is explaining how she can fix them, while Mayor West is just distracting the town from the question that was asked. I believe this is a form of red herring because it is often that politicians change the statement to make them seem better by distracting the audience.

Post #5 Red Flag: Proof by Verbosity

Definition:
Proof by verbosity is when someone whose a whole bunch of large words to confuse, and distract the listener by intimidating them.

Connection:
In this video, Joey is giving examples of what verbosity is and it gave me a better understanding of what the red flag is. You don't necessarily have to be using large words, you just use a bunch of complex words in a statement to confuse the listener and to distract them from what the original question was much like red herring.

Post #6 Red Flag: Ancient Wisdom

Definition:
Ancient wisdom is the use of their medicine, and products saying that since it was used in the ancient times, it must work because it uses all natural items, which isn't completely wrong. But, modern day medicine is much better because we actually test the products before we use them and don't harm ourselves with the "what if".

Connection:
George Thompson went to China and learned Ancient Wisdom to overcome his anxiety after beating himself up after attending school. The first thing he did before he started to explain how he overcame his anxiety was took a big, long, deep breathe. He says that there is a lot going on in our day to day lives that a lot of the time we don't have time to just breathe and focus on nothing while it breaks you out of negative thoughts which can calm your anxiety. This is the first ancient Chinese technique he learned along with challenging the though, and watching the thoughts and not blaming them on anything.

Post #7 Reasons for Belief: Simplicity

Definition:
In Psudoscience, simplicity is defined like psychic. If you have a dream someone passed away and then you hear when you wake up that that person actually passed. It can be a coincidence, but it also can mean that you're psychic.

Connection:
The connection between the term and this video is that they both represent beauty. There is beauty in simplicity and where is also beauty in this reason for belief. You have to focus on things that are important in life and not let what isn't important bother you, and fix what you do not like.

Definition:
Emotional connection is when you feel (like it says in the belief), emotionally connected with someone, both in spirit and while being alive. Often people feel emotional connections with the ones they have lost, and if you have an item that belongs to them you can feel more connected with them through the item.

Connection:
In this TED talk, Chrissy talks about a business she helped her 14 year old daughter come up with. They're lockets, but their customizable which can make memories, and can create emotional connection through the locket and others. In this TED talk, her daughter had come across one lady that she had a special connection with. She had just lost twins and and wanted something to symbolize and remember them and to feel a connection with them always.

Critical thinking is when you are using some of the main critical thinking skills, which are: observation, reflection, evaluation, problem solving, open mindedness, and decision making. If you know all of these well then you won't have any problems with critical thinking. It helps you make decisions and think outside of the box easier and allows you to expand your mind. In this project, critical thinking was important to open our minds about the red flags in psudoscience and the reasons people believe in such things.
