In almost every (if not all) career fields, people need to be able to utilize technology and social-media, and to do so responsibly. We are now in a time where it is safe to assume that our students have access to the internet, and we have to prepare students to be able to see the benefits of tech for innovation; however, also know to be careful of what they are posting and be diligent of the sources of where they get their information from.

Technology changes daily, they are exposed to so many things at such a fast pace. We really do need to think about what their world will look like when they are even in middle school, high school, and the working world. They need to also learn to think that way too. Things will change and they need to develop that love of learning and the ability to be ok with so many changes at such a fast pace. For some, it will be hard. Developing skills now will help.

Even over the past decade, jobs that were once present no longer exist as well as numerous new jobs have developed as a part of this evolution. If we do not adapt ourselves, we are not aiding our students in this evolution as well. With change comes new and different learning and we need to embrace and instill this curiosity and love of learning in our students as well.

Access and Experience: We live in a global community where students have instant access to just about anything; to just about any place; to just about every idea and/or opinion. Information that in the past may have taken hours of research can now be gathered in the palm of their hands with a decent hashtag search. Locations that once took hours of flight and thousands of dollars to visit come to home screen through Google Earth. This ease of access has led to an experience that is, for better or worse, one of instant gratification. In a world where technology advances every 18 months, today’s students are faced with a future scape that will be constantly changing. In order to keep up, to stay current, they must be accepting of innovation. Children today are more open to try new things, and that is due largely in part to their ever changing environment.
