The end of an era

Becky, I literally cannot believe that we won't be working together for real this time. You have been apart of my university journey from the beginning and it's very strange to think that this is the end of our Sussex journey together. You have been the best manager ever and an even better friend. You have so much kindness and passion and it's no surprise that KCL saw that and wanted to hire you. We have so many memories together that I will cherish forever. This sounds like a goodbye forever but I know it's not as we will always keep in touch to talk about love island, clothes and selling sunset. I am going to miss you loads. Thank you for everything you have done for me. You have given me so much confidence in myself and given me so many opportunities. It has been a fantastic year working with you Becky. I am so happy to have you as my manager, your energy and ideas make working so much more enjoyable and it always starts and ends with a laugh. I will always remember how you always supported me when there is a challenge, and I like how we can share things as good friends. You are the best manager and the sweetest person I have ever met. An End to an Amazing Chapter 🥂

Becky, not only are you an amazing manager and an amazing leader, but you are also an amazing mentor. Whilst our work was promoting students to engage with the award and you always encouraged students to participate in extra-curricular activities, but you did the same with your own team and i can vouch for that. You were one of the main individuals at uni to get back into music and doing something with it. You made me believe in what i always wanted to do when i was younger which is why i value our bond so much. You made my first year at Sussex unforgettable and i'm sad that you won't be here next year but the lessons and things you have taught me in my career life and my personal life has built a foundation that i can look back on to and take on with me within the rest of my uni life and thereafter. You are very funny, compassionate, and understanding. You taught me what a good leader is and you being an amazing leader, and the way you coped with so many challenges this year has been inspiring to me. I get that work can be very stressful and a massive project like this needs someone that can deal with the pressure and you managed to do that gracefully. I do want to say that even if things don't go your way or can be overwhelming, it's easy to blame yourself, but always things happen for a reason and you tried your absolute best. Never ever blame yourself for things when is is not your fault or is not under your control, i know it's easier said than done but coming from someone who is your work colleague and a friend, you deserve a break and you deserve so much recognition for your hard-work. The spirit of sussex award would not be as successful without you 🏆

I hope to stay in touch with you and see all the amazing things that you do at Kings. King's is so lucky to be having you there and they better take care of you 😤. I am really going to miss you and i thank you for being an amazing manager, i wouldn't be the same haajadri i was when i was starting out in september without you. Continue to be who you are and i wish you the best of luck 🍀

Becky, I am so proud of you and how far you have come during your time at Sussex.
I will never forget being wowed by you at the interviews for Summer School Assistant back in 2017/18. We thought we knew who we wanted until you walked in the room as our last interviewee and blew us away - and you even had the flu!! We then went on to form the dream team with Sam for the best summer in 2018!
I was delighted when you re-joined the team again for Summer 2019 but knew it was only a matter of time before your drive, passion and ambition would take you higher, (and quite rightly so!) and was glad that you stayed at Sussex. But now the time has come for you to spread your wings again and I am so thrilled for you, albeit a little sad. Sussex is losing one of the best hardworking colleagues it has every had. King's better know how lucky they are to have you. You've got this!!!
Good luck in your new role and I can't wait to hear all about it when we finally manage to have a catch up in Eastbourne sometime. :)
