Chunking is breaking content down into "digestible bites" for students and help them understand at their level of learning.
Two strategies associated with chunking are presenting content in small chunks and using preassessment data to vary the size of each chunk.

By presenting different topics in to smaller chunks and smaller segments it enables students to absorb the new information. This type of learning will help the students take each segment in at a time as the teacher presents it and they can process those at a slower pace and work collaboratively with their teacher and classmates to understand the topics and discussions.

Technology to Use:

Interactive Whiteboards can help organize thoughts using lists and graphics while discussing the topics. Students could make venn diagrams to breakdown topics with their commonalities and differences. IWB are just great tools for teachers to use and put up a visual to associate with the topics they are wanting to present.
Different presentation softwares are a great way to present materials to students in sections by making each slide a chunk for the students to digest and discuss before moving on to the next chunk.

Using an assessment on the students before teaching a unit or topic can enable the teacher to break down their lessons into chunks that would be best digested by the students. Sometimes we go in to lessons expecting more out of our students than we should have and need to do some back tracking. By doing a preassessment, it can make lessons go much more smoothly for both the teacher and student.

Technology to Use:
Different polling technologies or apps could be a quick way to check for knowledge base on a topic for your unit you are wishing to teach.
Clickers are another quick alternative to taking a preassessment and finding their scores to evaluate how large or small the chunks should be for your class and the extent of the amount within the chunk to teach

There are lots of tools to use for enhancing learning by using chunking. Many of which are the use of technology as mentioned. When presenting each chunk, have an activity that may be individual or group related to have them not only learn from the teacher presenting but for them to implement what they just learned in small activity before moving on to the next chunk.
When assessing students to broad questions and narrowed questions to help evaluate the size of the chunks and the content of each chunk for the unit.
