         <description><![CDATA[<div>As vibrations from seismic waves travel through the earth, the vibrations can be picked up and measured by seismographs.<br><br>In 1934, Charles Richter invented the Richter scale, (Pronounced Rick-ter) which is one of the ways that people measure the magnitude of an earthquake. The scale ranges from 1-10. Less than 2 is a micro earthquake. Above 6 is larger and stronger earthquake. Below that is moderate, then minor earthquakes.</div>]]></description>
