Galatians 3:28 And "just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matt 20:28. We have a culture of seeing each other as one, and serving each other as Jesus served us. Any thing that goes against that needs to be adjusted.

Some things that my school does is employs Culturally Responsive Teaching and Administrative Practices through an effort to understand the various cultures that comprise the school including celebrating cultural holidays such as Christmas, TET, Kwanzaa. Adapting tuition to meet needs of socio-economic situations, and awareness of chronic/historical traumas are other examples.

Given the current administration's attacks on Higher Education, DEI, immigrants, etc I've seen SCU shift to a "hush hush" approach about diversity and inclusion. I think it is coming from a place of fear and also wanting to protect our most vulnerable populations...but it is impacting the ability to celebrate our various communities on campus.

I think that the newest political happening, tariffs, cause a lot of anxiety both at school and home. Leading to higher prices, differences in daily life, disruptions in business, changes in disposable income, global change, can cause a lot of anxiety and affect minority and disenfranchised groups in particular. I am seeing this at school as we are not classified as a "wealthy" school by any means, and money is a topic of consciousness in the mind of many families.

I would like to see just MORE. More initiatives towards fundamentally shifting socially/culturally/economically accepted hegemonies that permeate the school environment and sacrifice the ability to achieve equity in schools. Perhaps acknowledgement of different languages, cultures, celebrations, affirmations, community events regarding how different cultures shape the community at large. This "Transformational Resistance" can be a dimension of the community's identity lead by the administration. This is indeed, their responsibility. To help the community "see" the importance of the experiences and perspectives of those they serve is one of the administrator's main jobs.
