One of my earliest and most formative memories from my academic journey is that of my third-grade teacher, Mrs. Zemlock. She had an unwavering belief in my abilities, inspiring me to pursue my goals confidently. Her support truly shaped my path and instilled a sense of determination in me.

The transition from middle school to high school was particularly challenging for me, both socially and academically. Over four years, I discovered the immense value of having a support system and people I could rely on. I found that connection through the sports I participated in, which is why I always emphasize to students and colleagues the importance of finding a community. It can make all the difference.

Like many others, I started my higher education journey due to COVID-19, with all my classes being online. During that time, I also decided to switch my major from neurobiology to a concentration in business. This decision, received pushback especially because I was choosing to pursue a career and an educational pathway that was not deemed to be "stable". Throughout my time at community college, I grew both academically and personally as I navigated both internal and external shifts.

When I chose to attend SFSU, I was anxious and filled with apprehension about reliving my high school years. However, I can now say that attending this university has been one of the best academic decisions I've made. I've built an incredible support system of friends and colleagues, and the dedication of the professors and staff has truly made the world of a difference. I have gotten to explore different academic passions and opportunities, thanks to the university as well as its location in the city.
