Students fill in a quadrant using sticky notes or paper folded into fourths. Each quadrant has a target - 1) unknown words/phrases (students make predictions about the meanings), 2) stop and jot - what the students find interesting, funny, confusing, etc, 3) Standard based questions using question stems 4) Evidence for the answers to the questions in quadrant 3. I change the quadrant each week to match the standard. Students like the predictability and consistency that the format provides.
