Not on the tilted axis its also the path that Earth rotates in which is an oval. The further away it is from the sun the colder it gets so it would be winter the closer it is it would be summer. Well they weren't entirely wrong the earth is a sphere but because of the speed it spins at the middle of the Earth is wider then the rest. The sphereroid supports us because since the middle is wider it gets the most affected when the seasons chage.
