Our idea was to show the overexaggerated reality of what is deemed 'perfect' in the society that we live in. Our ideas circalated around the purity and the immorality, we are yet to discuss how we should show that, however in the next slides there are some pictures to visualise our ideas.

We made a link to some of the famous movies that already touch onto the future reality of making the poor poorer and the rich richer. The idea of money and beauty goes hand in hand, the rich have the ability to become who they want and how they want to look. Great example of that is movie "Hunger games" where there is clear separation between the rich and the poor, that links to the idea we discussed earlier about the pure people ( the people of the 12 districts ) and those immoral that want to make themselves look pure ( the capitol ).

Another movie that sparked our idea tiltled "how far is too far" was the movie Little Marmaid. Ariel was willing to give up a part of her, in return for feet just to feel like she fits into the social norms and escape what was thought by others to be atypical and monsterous.

Creating a VA character and scenario for a one to one conversation with the virtual character

We used tools such as ‘thispersondoesnotexist’ and ‘artbreeder’ to create a concept for our character. She is a 25 year old woman, in the third generation of body modifications.

Day 2 was focused on a task called “finding signal” where we had to find a signal - a current issue or rising in popularity topic and predict the future from it.

The whole exercise was done with help of Henry Crooke and Libby Miller from BBC. It’s aim was to shown us methods and techniques for producing stories about future.

We wanted to design a company who would perform these body modifications. They are a huge global company, conglomerate (think as large as apple). The logo is a butterfly- to represent the process of change and becoming a ‘new you’ much like a caterpillar-butterfly.

Growing features in a way a caterpillar becomes a butterfly

We like the way that the caterpillar transitions to a butterfly. When the caterpillar is in the cocoon it breaks down on a cellulose level and recomposes itself into a butterfly. The exoskeleton in our case will be the pod, filled with a sticky, mucus like substance that will break down the body part that they want to change and the replacement will grow from there. e.g cat ears.

More inspiration for our transformation stage when characters want to modify a part of their body. This process takes a week to complete. The body part will break down and form a desired one that the person chose prior. During this week they go to a special location where they have this set up. The week also includes the healing time so there is no after care needed. The whole process happens in these pods with mucus like substance.

In the year of 2222, body modifications have been taken to a new extreme. Going from today’s standard boob/lips and Botox jobs, having animalistic body traits has become the new norm. For 5 generations, these modifications have only grown more and more over the years. Some people in the real life today already see the appeal of this, such as the Vampire Lady, Maria Jose Christerna. In our future world, it all started off as simple change of people’s traits such as adding cat ears or a tail, but now people are seeing the appeal of changing their bodies completely to turn into the animal of their choice. The growth of these modifications has made it not only difficult to conceive a child, but the children that are being born are now being born with some of the modifications of their parents. These modifications are not only an aesthetic change as people thought they would be from the beginning, but they are now effecting their actual genes. We are at the point in this story where the company ANIBODY is refusing its their fault that babies die only a few minutes after they are born and stand by their slogan, Become anybody, with ANIBODY!
