Soon after the Nazis occupied Vilna and every jew including Vitka was forced into the Vilna Jewish Ghetto in 1941. While she was here she smuggled a homemade bomb out of the ghetto using the sewers to blow up the train tracks stopping Nazi train travel. While at this ghetto Vitka was resisting NAZI forces who were trying to terminate the jewish race using concentration camps. If Vitka had not helped these people escape they would all have went to a concentration camp to die.

She continued to reach out to Holocaust survivors years later and helped smuggle hundreds of Jews into to British occupied Palestine. Today she is remembered for her bravery and courage saving 100s of lives by helping people escape the ghetto. She sadly passed away in 2012.
