One connection or alliance that should have ended after the war:

The colonial connections between European powers and their colonies should have ended after World War I. These ties were exploitative, as colonized peoples were forced into the war effort without their consent, suffering heavy casualties and economic strain.

One connection or alliance that should have been maintained:

The international trade networks should have been maintained after the war because they were essential for economic recovery and rebuilding. By continuing international trade, nations could foster interdependence, reduce isolation, and create a foundation for cooperation, which would support peace and stability in the post-war world.

In my opinion, the Soviet Union's hold on Eastern Europe should have ended immediately following world war 2. They looked to defend their borders after helping to defeat Nazi Germany, so at first it made some sense. However, the Soviets stayed and pushed their communist system on those nations rather than letting them rebuild on their own terms. Decades of power and tension resulted from this, particularly during the Cold War. Eastern Europe could have had a chance to recover more easily and escape so much suffering if they had let go sooner.

The bond between the U.S. and the U.K. during the war was incredibly strong, and I think they should have worked even more closely after it ended. They already teamed up to fight a global threat, so why not stick together to help rebuild and stabilize the world? While nato did form later, a stronger partnership between these two could have sped up Europe’s recovery and made the Cold War less chaotic. It was a moment when shared values like democracy and freedom could have been championed even more.

In my opinion, the US and Soviet alliance should have ended after the war, as it was clear that the two countries had fundamentally different visions for the post-war world order. Maintaining this alliance would have only prolonged the inevitable conflict and made the transition to a more stable, multipolar world more difficult.

One connection or alliance that I believe should have been maintained after World War II is the alliance between the United States and its European allies, particularly the United Kingdom, France, and West Germany.

One connection or alliance that you think should have ended after the war and why.

I believe the ottoman-German alliance should have ended after world war 1. It was useless and didn’t benefit the ottomans. The ottomans empire ended shortly after the alliance so it didn’t help them in anyway.

One connection or alliance that you think should have been maintained and why.

The French and British alliance during world war 1 was strong. But afterwards their alliance wasn’t that strong. French and britian’s relationship was slowly deteriorating. Especially during the time when Germany started to gain power. If France and Britain keep their alliance strong and powerful they could have prevented the war from happening and saving millions of lives.
