They would also dunk their handkerchiefs in aromatics so they don't breathe in the bad air. They also thought that loud sounds such as church bells and loud cannons would word off the plague. This photo doesn't show the prevention so of the Black Death but shows how the Black Death doctors would prevent themselves from getting the Black Death.
