Blue is the sound of waves crashing suddenly on the beach.

Blue is the sound of the tap dripping in the kitchen sink.

Blue looks like the bright Summer's sky.

Blue looks like the deep blue ocean.

Blue is the feeling of the water I splash on my face.

Blue is the sensation feeling when opening a timeout bar.

He laughs like a kookaburra.

He waddled like a penguin.

The crowd poured into Jade Stadium like cows into a paddock.

As big as a house.

The players lumbered like pigs though mud to get to the try line.

He clung like a koala to his surfboard.

Paddling all so gracefully,

Peaceful they all are.

Who liked eating chilli in bed.

He recommended "You should!

It's rather quite good!"

But it really just made him turn red.

Snow,

Freezing, cold weather,

Clear, white snowflakes falling from the sky,

Children rugged up, walking down the lane,

Skiing, snowboarding, snowmen,

Snow, everywhere I look.

And lots of love it sure can bring,

It's hard to find that one true friend,

And make sure that friendship never does end,

But sometimes things don't go our way,

And like our friendship we drifted astray,

I hardly ever see you now,

And although we didn't make a vow,

I feel as though we should still talk,

But I know one of us would just walk,

So now I have 2 great new friends,

I now no longer have to make amends,

But I know as friends we'll ever be the same,

That's okay, and no one should get the blame.

An example of personification in this poem is 'thirsty paddocks'

'Land of the Rainbow Gold' is an example of a metaphor. This metaphor is comparing 'land of the rainbow gold' to Australia's great colourful and bright landmarks, eg-Great Barrier Reef, Uluru, Daintree Rainforest.

An example of alliteration is 'Where lithe lianas coil' and 'For flood and fire and famine'.

The first verse of the poem is a stanza which refers to England. We know this because it says 'Strong love of grey-blue distance' this is referring to the weather in Europe, which is often grey and rainy.

An example of onomatopoeia is 'The drumming of an army'.

Definition of coppice: an area of woodland in which the trees or shrubs are periodically cut back to ground level to stimulate growth and provide firewood or timber.

Lithe: (especially of a person's body) thin, supple, and graceful.

Pitiless: showing no pity; cruel.
