• The exponential function eX relates to naturally occurring phenomena, e.g. population growth, spread of bacteria, radioactive decay, pressure change with altitude, capacitor discharge, expansion or cooling characteristics.


• Thus, the exponent used as a base for natural logarithms (ln or loge)
