Apex is a town about 15 minutes outside of Raleigh. I was born and raised here up until I went off to college in August of 2022. This is a picture of Downtown Apex. It is a small little street with lots of restaurants and shops, similar to most downtown areas in smaller towns. Downtown Apex has held so many events that really bring the whole community together. I lived in a few different homes throughout the town and was a part of several amazing communities within that shaped me into the person I am today. Apex gained a significant amount of popularity as I grew up there. When my family first moved there, it was a very small town, not super populated, and everyone knew each other. Slowly, it gained more and more popularity and became ranked as the number one town in North Carolina to live in. It is similar to Boone in the aspect that it was not made to hold a lot of people and the traffic gets really bad.

Boone is a place we all know and love. It is three hours from my hometown and while Boone is my college town, it is a place I also consider to be home. I was never one of those people who had a "dream school" or anything like that. I applied to a few colleges throughout the state, one being Appalachian State because it is in the mountains. I could not be happier with my decision to come here, as it has impacted my life in so many different aspects. This beautiful little mountain town is the place where I am learning to become a real adult while meeting some amazing people and learning such valuable lessons.

Young Harris, GA

Young Harris is not a place that I have spent a lot of time at, but it is a place that had a large impact on me. When my parents were first separated, my dad got a house here that my brother and I would go visit every few months or so. It was in the mountains right by Lake Chatuge, and it is so beautiful. Young Harris is only a few minutes from the North Carolina border but truly is in the middle of nowhere. I was not used to being in an area like that, since I grew up 15 minutes from the State Capitol. Spending time in Young Harris made me grow a love for the mountains which is part of the reason I chose to go to school at Appalachian State. My dad no longer owns the house in Young Harris, and sadly it just burnt down recently, but I will always have very strong memories there, both good and bad.
