         <description><![CDATA[<div>A process internal to instruction that offers results in a timely fashion that inform and improve instruction; also provides feedback to students.<br><br>Ex: A three question exit ticket given after 2 lessons about fractions.<br><br>An exit ticket allows students an opportunity to demonstrate what they understand so far. It is low stakes, may not even be graded, but it lets the teacher know how to plan for/adjust the next lessons. Returned exit tickets let the students know what to review. The teacher is able to gather data on which to base future lessons in this assessment FOR learning .</div>]]></description>

The teachers asks students to reflect on their understanding and connect their progress to one of four categories: 1- Novice, I am just learning and need more help please.&nbsp; 2- Apprentice, I am almost there, I need more practice. 3-&nbsp; Master, I've got it &amp; I can do it on my own! 4- Expert, I am a pro and can teach others. When provided an opportunity to reflect on their understanding, this assessment AS learning allows students to practice metacognotion and be an active stakeholder in the instructional cycle.
